Finally a use for your old fur coats…

Rather than letting your old fur coats sit in the back of your closet, how about donating them to a charity where you are giving back to the animals that originally gave you warmth? What on earth am I talking about, right? The Humane Society has a wonderful program in place that has been around since 2005 named Coats for Cubs.

“We use the discarded furs as bedding to give the animals comfort and reduce stress,” says Michael Makarian, the Humane Society’s CEO.”The garments act as a surrogate mother. It is a warm and furry substitute.”

It is one of the coldest winters England and America have seen to date. If you aren’t using your gorgeous furs anymore just think of a baby animal that could greatly benefit from the warmth it would provide. I’ve already packed two to ship out tomorrow and would send more if I had them.

Donating is easy: Place your fur in a sturdy box (a large padded envelope is fine for small items) and mail it to The HSUS at the following address: The Humane Society of the United States
2100 L St., NW
Washington, D.C. 20037
Attn: Coats for Cubs
