Hollywood’s Young Women on the cover of Vanity Fair

Well the blogging community is already in an uproar over this cover of Vanity Fair. I must admit that when I first saw the cover I thought, “what a lovely picture Annie Leibovitz has taken here.” It is a very delicate picture of nine women that have filled our cinema screens for the past nine months.  It wasn’t until I started reading the “community’s” posts that I noticed why some people might take offense at this cover.  These girls are all classically beautiful, so that is not strange for Vanity Fair as their covers are usually works of art in beauty.  But the reason everyone is so upset is because they felt VF was defining the New Hollywood for 2010 as all white, petite, young and fragile. Maybe this is the new Hollywood. Maybe the statement is correct. Although I will say we have a lot of faces at the moment for young females that are a hell of a lot more important then the women portrayed on this cover.  Or at least that is what I thought and I went looking for who else I would put on the cover and I couldn’t think of anyone…Vanity Fair shouldn’t be criticized. They really are portraying the next generation in Hollywood.
