Did you know Kate Moss was discovered at an Airport?

I kid you not. Kate Moss, one of England’s most recognizable faces, was discovered in the 1980’s by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management, at JFK airport. Since that time airports have been a hotbed for discovering new talent. However, it wasn’t until this year that this was made public knowledge and in fact gave birth to an entire competition celebrating the gorgeous men and women that walk through Gatwick airport on a daily basis.

In June of this year Lily Cole launched “Gatwick Runway Models“, a search for the nation’s brightest faces wishing to fill books previously occupied by the likes of Cindy Crawford and Eva Herzigova. Men and Women were given the opportunity to stop into a model photo-booth while travelling through Gatwick Airport where they were asked to strike a pose for onsite talent spotters from Storm. The scouts even kept an eye out for those individuals that were camera shy!

In the end ten lucky finalists were chosen by Storm and were subjected to a model bootcamp where they were taught all the tricks of the trade by the supermodel currently on the front lines: Jade Parfitt.

“The competition really will change the winners’ lives.” Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Model Management, added: “This is a very exciting opportunity for Storm. We are very devoted to the discovery and nurturing of new talent and the opportunity to launch a model competition with London Gatwick Airport is exciting. We are hoping to find the New Faces of the future, who will go on to enjoy a long and successful career with Storm.”

Bootcamp was the last opportunity for the finalists to wow the judges. The guy and the girl that impressed Storm the most will be selected as the final winners on 6th August at London Gatwick Fashion Week.
