Paul Smith and Brown’s Hotel collaborate on Christmas in London

Mark your calendars as you aren’t going to want to miss this. British Fashion designer Paul Smith has teamed up with Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel in London to bring you a Christmas like never before. On December 3rd the doors will open to the Christmas wonderland that will have all fashionistas drooling. Hundreds of Paul Smith’s hand painted decorations will decorate a massive Christmas tree in the hotel and topiary animals, in the style of “The Jungle Book,” will be scattered all around (for those of you not familiar with Brown’s history, it is believed Kipling wrote “The Jungle Book” while staying in the hotel). The hotel will also be filled with a series of large baubles which have been created by some of Britain’s top contemporary artists: Fiona Rae, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Caragh Thuring, Richard Woods, Rob Ryan, Naomi Avsec and of course Paul Smith.  Each bauble will later be sold by silent auction to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres in Great Britain.

Paul Smith commented on the collaboration:

“I have always loved the look and feel of Brown’s Hotel: like us they are proud to be British but with a contemporary twist.  I am delighted to create something truly unique while raising money for Maggie’s.”

Fear not, Christmas collectors…you too will have an opportunity to walk away with your favourite decorations without waiting for the silent auction (if, say, you are a business traveller wanting to bring a little something special home from the London trip).  If you are staying at the hotel you have the opportunity to purchase the special edition baubles to include on your own Christmas tree.

And here’s my last little bit of news from one of my favourite London hotels. Brown’s is offering a special “Baubles & Baubles” overnight stay, between 19th December and 9th January, where guests will receive one of the Paul Smith Baubles, a bottle of champagne and a breakfast at HIX at the Albermarle included in their stay.  Just quote “Baubles & Baubles” when you call to book in at Brown’s.

Note: I’ll try to get over to the hotel to take pictures for everyone that can’t be in London this holiday season! I think you’ll find yourself booking your trip for next year!
