Breakfast with Coccinelle on the Kings Road in London

This morning I had the great honour of attending the Coccinelle breakfast in London.  This was no ordinary press breakfast. The good people at Coccinelle had transformed their London store into a restaurant, complete with a coffee/tea bar in the front hall and a long perspex table set for eighteen at the back.  Beautiful flowers decorated the space but I’ll be honest here, it was hard to focus on anything other than the amazing leather bags that surrounded us in store.  I’m not sure if you’ve heard of Coccinelle before. If you have any Italian friends or have been to Italy, you should recognize the name instantly. This is a brand that has a cult like following on the continent.  If I had to compare them to the USA and UK I would say they are like Coach to America and Mulberry to England.  I know that’s some serious comparison. But I wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true. Quality and superior craftsmanship is recognizable in each piece on display.  They are relatively new in the UK. In fact the only other European countries they exist in are Italy (of course) and Germany.  They’ve been smart and picky about their marketplace.

For the breakfast I was very lucky in that I was sandwiched between the lovely Eleonora and Elisabetta from Coccinelle on one side and Stylist Magazine and Easy Living Magazine on the other. Talk about being in fabulous company. It was an amazing spot and one that, trust me dear reader, I had to pinch myself for. And once again I was shown how absolutely fantastic women in business can be. Each and every individual I spoke with during the breakfast was a woman I would be lucky to call my friend.  We all came together over the breakfast table with a common love….handbags, Coccinelle handbags to be specific. I hope to get a much closer look at the bags in the future to give you an insiders view on what makes these items so special. However, in the run up to Christmas I would encourage you to pop into the shop and have a look round for yourself. The sales associates in store are extremely helpful and friendly and are willing to help with ideas for Christmas presents.  My personal recommendation – the fur bag in the shop window or Python bag in the back! You can’t go wrong with either of those gems!

Here’s a look at the highlights from the morning…
