Golden Globes 2011: Fashion analysis

We’ll start with the best of the best for the Golden Globes 2011 dresses. For me, this year Eva Longoria Parker (are we still saying Parker?) takes the cake.  Her elegant black dress from Zac Posen is the most amazing dress I’ve ever laid eyes on. Everything about this look screams elegance and perfection! Well played to everyone involved in creating this look for Eva!

The stars of Mad Men, Christina Hendricks (in Romona Keveza) and January Jones, both decided to wear red for the evening.  If it’s a fashion battle between the two, January Jones would definitely win in the gorgeous Versace fringe!

And the award for the best risk taker certainly goes to Anne Hathaway who rocked a “how low can you go” backless dress from Armani Prive.

Best dressed couple, hands down, goes to Mad Men star Jon Hamm and wife Jennifer Westfeldt.

Natalie Portman (in Victor & Rolf)  may have walked away with the award but Jane Krakowski (in Badgley Mischka couture) wins the prize for best pregnant lady walking the carpet. She looked stunning!

Mandy Moore (in Monique Lhuillier) and Amy Adams (in Marchesa) both looked equally stunning in navy blue dresses.

Catherine Zeta Jones (in Monique Lhuillier), Mila Kunis (in Vera Wang) and Angelina Jolie (in Atelier Versace) all wore green and looked phenomenal.  However, green is risky on the red carpet. It may look great but I can’t help but think of Christmas as the stars march down a red carpet…” Deck the halls with Golden Globes, falalalala lala la la”

Nudes are always huge on the red carpet and this year we say plenty of it at the Golden Globes. Who doesn’t look great in a nude dress? It’s the colour that gives and just keeps on giving….

Sandra Bullock (in Jenny Packham) and Michelle Williams (in Valentino) both rocked nude dresses that were taken a step beyond simplistic. The embellishments on each dress made them red carpet heroes!

Julie Bowen (in Max Azria Atelier) and  Dianna Argon (in J. Mendel) both have a  nude moment on the red carpet.

Emma Stone wins for the most simple yet striking attire for the evening in a floor length Calvin Klein gown.

The award for “would have been best dressed if only…” goes to Jennifer Lopez.

And finally, those who need to hire new stylists for next year…

Heidi Klum and  Helena Bonham Carter.

Christina Aguilera, Milla Jovovich and Julia Stiles. Ladies, these types of dresses don’t work on your bodie! This is not sex appeal…it just looks like you’ve been wrapped in fabric.
