Diet Pepsi launches a new “skinny” can at New York Fashion Week

So there was a lot of talk this weekend about the new “skinny can” for Diet Pepsi.  Why the talk? Well, some people felt that the new can was a bit offensive because it was making the statement that “tall and thin” is better than “short and stocky.” Remember, we’re talking about a can here.  Frankly, I don’t really care one way or the other. I’m a Diet Coke drinker, as are most of the people I know that work in fashion. So Pepsi just sounds like they’re working really hard to turn an entire population of Diet Coke addicts. Not going to happen. We’ll drink the can given in the goodie bags but we’ll stick with what we know afterward. When you love something you don’t turn your back on it for a taller and skinner version…it’s what’s in the can that counts (wow, did I just sound like a self help or what?).  Nice try Pepsi. Oh, and one little pointer for your ads. If you’re going to use Sofia Vergara to model for your product, at least use a picture where we can recognize her!
