Anya Hindmarch brings 18th-century artist Thomas Gainsborough back into style with Cruise 2013 Collection

For Cruise 2013Anya Hindmarch took inspiration from what would seem like the most unlikely place – the late 18th century and specifically Thomas Gainsborough. In the very first picture, above, we see Anya has used one of Gainsborough’s most famous paintings – Portrait of a Lady in Blue, to cover the classic Gracie bag and zip clutch. She’s also, geniusly, crafted an oversized tassle that is seen throughout the collection and is the perfect reminder of the inspiration of the collection as a whole.

As we moved through the collection, details here and there were left like breadcrumbs to trademark this collection as a completely unique concept for the designer. Clasps with details from 18th century works of art, rich and regal hints of purple, exotic leathers and golden hardware all define Cruise 2013 for Anya Hindmarch. It’s a collection that is as memorable as the last but is as unique as anything we’ve ever seen before from the designer. Look for the pieces to drop in store and online from November 2012.
