Staying at The Surrey in Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Earlier this week I spent 36 hours in New York City for a special event. Yes, it was special enough to warrant 15 hours on a plane for one evening in New York City. However, I do believe my short stay in the city was made all the more comfortable due to the generous accommodations we were afforded. For two nights (one full and one half as I had to get up at 4am to catch a plane back to London), I called The Surrey my home. From the moment I walked through the front door to the final moment where the car door was closed on my giant SUV to the airport, the staff were some of the friendliest I have yet to encounter in the city. If ever there were a moment I was waiting in the lobby a member of staff would immediately make the approach and ask if I wanted a paper, a drink, a coffee or anything else under the sun. The name of the game at The Surrey is customer service.

However, the compliments don’t start and stop with the staff at New York’s The Surrey Hotel. My room was a true home away from home, or at least what I would perhaps dream of my home looking like. It was a place of comfort in a city that can run you ragged. From the fabulous decadent bathroom to the bed that felt as if I was floating on a cloud, there wasn’t a single fault I could find at The Surrey.

If you are headed to NYC, I highly recommend checking out this beautiful hotel. The Surrey is magnificently located only a stone’s throw from Central Park and within walking distance of some of the best shopping in the city, as well as some of the city’s best museums. Everything else is just a cab ride away, as is always the case in Manhattan.  My only regret is that I didn’t get to check out The Surrey’s roof terrace. Every friend I have in NYC commented on how amazing this space was when I mentioned where I was staying. Sadly, it doesn’t open until May. {The Surrey Hotel in Manhattan’s Upper East Side}
