Working out is my least favourite thing. I know it’s all cool and everything, these days, to say how much we all enjoy working out, but I’m not here to sell you lies. I do it to keep my body in the best condition it can be in as I age and that’s the long and short of it. I don’t love it. I’ve learned to tolerate it. But, I found out this weekend that there are things that make it better and easier to stomach… like PUPPIES. Yes, this weekend I partook in yoga on a hotel rooftop with golden retrievers and cavapoo puppies as workout accessories. Is that rude to call them accessories? I hope not and I certainly don’t mean it in a derogatory manner. They were the best damn workout accessory I’ve ever had. As usual, I’m getting ahead of myself… What is this Pets Yoga, how did I get there and how can you get involved?
Let’s start with the basics. Pets Yoga is a yoga club. They are based in London, currently, so sadly this is only open to those living in or willing to travel to London for a session. The classes last for one hour and are broken down into segments. There is workout time, and it’s broken up by cuddle time throughout the class. Or, if you’re like me and you have a golden retriever asleep on your chest, you just do cuddle time, for the whole hour. Sorry, guys, I did intend to do yoga, the puppy just had other plans.
Now, for those that prefer kittens or rabbits, or another breed of dog, you’re in luck. The classes are always changing! The boyfriend would like to see micro-pigs for one class. I’ve registered this thought! Ha! All of the animals in the classes come either from charities or licensed breeders and I’m sure I don’t have to even mentioned that these little fluffballs are treated with nothing but love and kindness from every attendee.
The one piece of advice I have for Pets Yoga, other than going, is to book as soon as booking opens. The golden retriever/cavapoo yoga class sold out in one minute. I asked about 2020 and there will be more classes, but you have to be a woman or man on a mission to get these tickets. They are harder to get than a tent at Glastonbury. And there isn’t much chance of gatecrashing an event as the venue changes constantly, with ticket holders being given the secret location only a week before it happens.
