Getting naked with Urban Decay

I’ve pretty much managed to get through life without makeup. I’ve never been a foundation girl. I’ve avoided eyeshadow like the plague and the only colour that comes close to these lips comes from biting them incessantly when nervous and then hoping for recovery with vaseline intensive lip care.

Sadly, time is not kind to skin. I’ve discovered the pitfalls of spending too much time in the sun in my twenties and not spending enough time at night remembering to wash and moisturise my face. While my skincare regime has improved tremendously over the past five years, I have come to accept that at the age of 32, I need a little help in keeping my skin looking fresh and healthy. Sooo… after trying what feels like every product under the sun I wanted to share my new obsession. Now I do realise that products in life come and go and we discover new and wonderful things all the time but I just had to share my current obsession. Urban Decay have just launched liquid makeup called “Naked Skin” and I am not exaggerating here when I say that I am head over heels in love with the way this has transformed my look. I spend about twenty minutes every morning working at making my skin look flawless, or as flawless as it can be without a surgical needle getting involved, and I’m following a whole Urban Decay product line from start to finish. My recent Urban Decay shopping bag, and morning ritual, now include the following products:

1. Naked Skin in shade 5.0 (I have a serious tan at the moment so this is about two shades darker than I would usually go).
2. Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush – A MUST OWN! Ok, even if you already have a foundation you love I would say you need to have this brush in your life. It is the most amazing blending brush. As I don’t know much about these things I shared it with a good friend who is a world leading makeup artist and she immediately went online and ordered six of them. Yes, it is that good!
3. Complexion Primer Potion – This goes on before the Naked Skin liquid makeup. It prepares the skin for the makeup and helps in keeping it there throughout the day. I’ve recently learned that this is a must perform trick of the trade. Without a primer you might as well just accept the look will only last for about an hour. So what’s the point really? And while we are at it, also grab the Eyeshadow Primer which is basically like super glue for eyeshadow. This stuff is making sure your shadows stay put from application to makeup remover pad.
4. And speaking of eyeshadow love you absolutely must have in your bag of tricks this wonderful new palette that is all about the smoky eye. In fact, it’s not just a palette that has all the tricks of the trade, it also comes with a guide that will show you have to do everything. As I’m an idiot when it comes to makeup, I can officially say this is the dummy guide to creating a smoky eye look. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.

I think that pretty much covers everything. Honestly, these new tools have really given me a new found confidence that I thought I might have lost there for a little bit. Was feeling my age hanging around all the young bloggers out there and this put a bit of a spring in my step that I thought I’d left back in the last decade. A really big THANK YOU to Urban Decay for creating products that are worth every penny!
