Diane von Furstenberg’s #glamchic autumn winter 2013 catwalk

How does Diane von Furstenberg see her autumn winter 2013 girl? Well, I do believe the press release best describes it as DvF shares, “Her energy is contagious. She is the rock star and the muse of her own life; her clothes are her friends….life is a party.”

Diane von Furstenberg may have used those words to describe her AW13 collection, but truly I have always believed that is an accurate description of the loyal Dvf customer base. Von Furstenberg designs clothes that flatter a woman’s body. That is to say, she creates clothing that works on women of any shape. There are so few designers that warrant that sort of praise in this day and age. Most designers create for stick thin women who more closely resemble clothes hangers than real women we encounter in our day to day lives.

However, for autumn winter 2013, it seems Diane von Furstenberg has taken a journey back to her start up days. She’s revisiting the idea of seventies chic and brings boho chic back with a contemporary flare. We see both subdued and bright colours in the collection that work well for taking the DvF girl from work to party in a pinch. And of course we can’t forget the iconic prints. This is, in fact, what DvF is known for… creating fantastic prints that wrap around our curves like fabric sent straight from fashion heaven. There is a lot to take in with this show and I do believe it is most likely best seen in person, one look at a time. I have no doubt we will see these looks out and about in no time from cocktail party to red carpet arrivals.
