Revenge Wears Prada launches in London with a “Strut-Off”

Yesterday I made my way over to Mews of Mayfair for a civilised brunch with Lauren Weisberger, of Devil Wears Prada fame. The author was in town to promote the launch of the sequel to her best selling novel, Revenge Wears Prada, and I was in attendance to catch all the news first hand on what to expect for the leading ladies in the novel. What started out as a lovely morning with mimosas and bagels with lox and cream cheese quickly became a yellow high heeled marathon.

It seems we don’t just do book signings here in the UK when a bestselling author comes to pay us a visit. No, here in London we do things a bit differently. We get the community involved. And for Lauren Weisberger’s launch event, women from around London took to a catwalk down South Molton Street to strut their stuff for a chance to win a trip to New York City. It was, in essence,  a “strut-off,” and boy, did those girls ever strut.

Come rain or shine, and it did rain in the end, these girls were ready to walk the fastest and fiercest their legs would allow. It was a battle but in the end the most highly skilled high-heeled walker won the grand prize!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a book to read. I am very much looking forward to sinking my teeth into this sequel. If there isn’t anything on FFG for a few days, point fingers at the beautiful and kind Lauren Weisberger.
