A rather exotic taste of tea with The Brontes at The Gilbert Scott Restaurant

Last weekend, after returning from an overindulgent trip to Los Angeles, I needed to take in a traditional taste of London. Despite the sunshine and perfect temperature in LA, I did miss my hometown a little bit and the perfect way to get right back into the thick of things in London is through a traditional afternoon tea with friends. So, I found myself sitting at The Gilbert Scott, located in the beautiful St Pancras Rennaissance Hotel in Kings Cross, for the launch of their new Bronte Afternoon Tea

Boy, did this ever hit the spot. It was a grey day outside, but inside we were enjoying cocktails, tea and delightful sandwiches and sweet treats. Surrounded by beautiful pieces of art from the uber-talented Charlotte Cory, we took in our outstanding surroundings and settled in for the foreseeable future. First to land at our table was a cocktail to end all cocktails. If you are looking for something with strength, look no further as this will definitely put you out of your grey day misery. From there it was onto licorice and chocolate cupcakes, Yorkshire Parkin with salted caramel cream, Wensleydale and pickle sandwiches and much more, all inspired by Yorkshire Tea Time treats in honour of the Brontes.

For a step back in time, and a reminder of the magical culinary delights of this beautiful city, take a seat for The Gilbert Scott Bronte Afternoon Tea, open through the 12th of February. To make a reservation please call 0207 278 3888 or click below.
