London Eats: Theo Randall’s Bottomless Brunch

Listen up, ladies. If you are looking for a special brunch this weekend in London, look no further. I’ve got an Italian style restaurant with your name on it…and should I tell you now or later that it includes bottomless Bellini’s or Prosecco for the table? I won’t lie, it was the word “bottomless” that originally peaked my interest. And so a few weeks ago I had the great privilege of attending a preview of Theo Randall’s Bottomless Brunch at the Intercontinental on Park Lane and I invited one of my best gal pals to join me. We set the course for a gossip driven lunch, as it had been months since we last saw each other and we were ready for a long session at the table with good food and endless Prosecco. What could go wrong, right?

Don’t worry, this isn’t the part where I tell you they had to roll us out the back door. It’s not far from the truth, but it had very little to do with the Prosecco. It was actually the food that had us wishing we could sit there all day. From the cheese bar to the fresh salads and crusty bread offering, there was a display of food that looked like it could have been setup for a medieval banquet of 50 people. And that was just the starters on display. The next course, the main, was both sizeable and delicious, and also ordered by menu and delivered straight to the table. We didn’t sink as low as to lick our plates after we finished, but we weren’t far from thinking of doing so. That I do blame on the Prosecco.

For those of you thinking of dining, do note that there is a time limit on your bottomless alcohol only. You get 90 minutes, from arrival, to indulge in as many glasses of chilled Prosecco as you can manage. As for what happens post the 90 minute mark, well, that’s up to you. You can stick around and keep eating or make your way out onto Park Lane for a brisk walk through Hyde Park or up to Piccadilly. Either way you choose to organise your experience, make sure you attend with a group of people that are up for a weekend meal they won’t soon forget (well, as long as you don’t drink too much of the booze on offer).
