20 West London Wisteria Hysteria Houses: A Walking Tour

London’s Wisteria Hysteria is in full swing for the first bloom of the season. The city has turned purple and we’re seeing a record number of tourists pour in to watch the blossoms come to life. For me, in West London, the wisteria has been a part of my spring fling now for over a decade. It’s the moment you know spring has finally arrived and it is truly a sight to behold, in sunshine and in shade. But, it’s only through the constant sharing on social media that London has recently been given an official season of Wisteria Hysteria. The number one question I’m asked, as we approach the end of April and the start of May is… “where can I see the best wisteria?” So, I thought it high time to put together a guide. Rather than sending you from one end of the city to the other, I decided to concentrate on the area I know like the back of my hand – West London. This is just a smattering of the beautiful houses that feature blooming wisteria in London at the moment. And I think you’ll find, on the walking tour I’m about to lay out, that you will discover many more wisteria wonders for yourself. I’ve included pictures of every stop along the way that are doorways, mews and roads that have always captured my heart in the springtime. But, I hope you’ll travel off my set pathway and discover new blooms as they pop up around the city. Spring has officially sprung in London and it’s blooming marvellous. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.

So, the London Wisteria Hysteria tour of the West will take you to the following places. Again, this is simply a recommended route to get from place to place (all pictures below). Feel free to carve your own walking path. It’s easiest to start at Shepherd’s Bush Tube, for those taking public transport, and work your way around into Chelsea where your departing tube station will be West Brompton. Your Route is as follows:

Stop 1: Corner Of St. Anne’s Villas and Queensdale Road

Stop 2: Lansdowne Crescent

Stop 3: Horbury Mews

Stop 4: Lonsdale Road

Stop 5: Bedford Gardens

Stop 6: Devere Gardens

Stop 7: Kynance Mews

Stop 8: Abingdon Road

Stop 9: Sumner Place

Stop 10: Elm Place

Stop 11: Park Walk

I’ve included my pics from my own jog around London this morning as a guide for what you may find along the way! Get lost and enjoy. There are so many little pockets of London sporting some beautiful floral displays this time of year. They’re just waiting to be discovered.
